The Sustainability & Communications function leads the development, governance, and delivery of SeaChange® commitments across Thai Union's global operations, business units, and supply chains. The Senior Director, Environmental Impact and the Director, Performance & Data Strategy are both direct reports to the Chief Sustainability & Communications Officer and play central roles in the Group's sustainability leadership.

 

The Opportunity

 

This is a rare opportunity to serve as the environmental authority for one of the world's largest and most prominent seafood companies at a critical moment for the industry. Thai Union's SeaChange® 2030 commitments are among the most comprehensive in the sector, spanning responsible fisheries, responsible aquaculture, climate and decarbonisation, biodiversity and ecosystem protection, and ocean plastics and packaging.

The Senior Director, Environmental Impact leads Thai Union's Environmental Impact Centre of Excellence and is responsible for defining and delivering the Group's environmental strategy, standards, partnerships, and technical capabilities. The role sits at the intersection of science, policy, supply chain practice, and industry leadership — influencing outcomes across Thai Union's global operations and value chains.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical environmental expertise with the credibility and influence to drive meaningful change across a complex, global organisation and its supply chain. This is a position for someone who wants to shape industry direction, not simply manage compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, evolution, and governance of Thai Union's environmental commitments, targets, and roadmap across climate, responsible wild-caught seafood, responsible aquaculture, responsible agriculture, ecosystems, and ocean plastics.
• Define long-term environmental priorities, technical direction, and strategic interventions required to achieve SeaChange® 2030 targets and longer-term ambitions.
• Monitor environmental performance against commitments, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions where progress is off-track.
• Advise the Executive Leadership Team on environmental trends, science, policy developments, and external expectations that may impact Thai Union's sustainability strategy and business operations.

• Establish and maintain Group-wide environmental policies, standards, methodologies, and technical guidance across all environmental commitment areas.
• Act as Thai Union's technical authority on environmental sustainability, providing expertise and advice across functions, business units, and markets.
• Monitor regulatory developments, certification requirements, emerging science, and industry best practices to ensure standards remain current.
• Ensure robust governance, audit, and compliance mechanisms exist to strengthen environmental performance and manage environmental risks across operations and supply chains.

• Partner with Responsible Sourcing and Procurement to translate environmental commitments into sourcing standards, supplier requirements, improvement programmes, and procurement practices.
• Define technical requirements and performance expectations for responsible fisheries, responsible aquaculture, certification pathways, supplier improvement programmes, and environmental due diligence initiatives.
• Support the design and execution of supplier capability-building programmes that improve environmental outcomes across the value chain.

• Lead technical strategy and programme development across climate, biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, ocean plastics, packaging, and other environmental priorities.
• Oversee development of decarbonisation, ecosystem protection, and environmental impact reduction roadmaps across operations and supply chains.
• Identify innovative technologies, financing models, partnerships, and solutions that accelerate delivery of environmental commitments.

• Represent Thai Union in key industry initiatives, certification bodies, technical forums, pre-competitive collaborations, and environmental partnerships.
• Build and manage strategic relationships with NGOs, academic institutions, technical experts, governments, and industry organisations.
• Drive industry advocacy and thought leadership that advances responsible seafood production, environmental stewardship, and sustainability innovation.

• Develop environmental competencies, training programmes, and technical capabilities across Thai Union's operations, business units, and supply chains.
• Build and lead a high-performing Environmental Impact Centre of Excellence recognised internally and externally for technical excellence, innovation, and measurable impact.

 

Candidate Profile

 

Thai Union is looking for an exceptional environmental leader with the technical depth, strategic vision, and stakeholder influence to drive meaningful change at scale. The ideal candidate will bring:

• 15 or more years of experience in environmental sustainability, fisheries, aquaculture, climate, biodiversity, responsible sourcing, environmental management, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing environmental strategies, standards, and large-scale sustainability programmes.
• Deep expertise across several of the following areas:

1. Responsible Fisheries and/or Responsible Aquaculture
2. Climate & Decarbonisation
3. Biodiversity & Ecosystems
4. Ocean Plastics & Circularity
5. Environmental Certifications & Improvement Programmes
6. Supply Chain Sustainability

• Experience influencing senior executives, customers, suppliers, NGOs, governments, and industry stakeholders.
• Experience operating across multiple markets, cultures, and complex global value chains.
