The Sustainability & Communications function leads the development, governance, and delivery of SeaChange® commitments across Thai Union's global operations, business units, and supply chains. The Senior Director, Environmental Impact and the Director, Performance & Data Strategy are both direct reports to the Chief Sustainability & Communications Officer and play central roles in the Group's sustainability leadership.

 

The Opportunity

 

As sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements intensify globally — driven by CSRD, ISSB, SEC climate rules, and growing investor and customer scrutiny — the ability to measure, report, and assure sustainability performance has never been more commercially and reputationally critical. Thai Union is looking for a Director to own this agenda at the enterprise level.

 

The Director, Sustainability Performance & Data Strategy serves as the enterprise owner of sustainability intelligence for Thai Union. The role leads performance monitoring against SeaChange® 2030 commitments, oversees ESG reporting and assurance across all major frameworks and ratings, and drives the transformation of sustainability data through automation, AI, and end-to-end traceability systems.

 

This is a role for a leader who combines rigorous analytical capability with the commercial acumen to translate sustainability data into strategic insight — and the organisational credibility to drive alignment across Finance, Digital, Operations, Investor Relations, Legal, and Procurement in a genuinely complex global business.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Own the Group sustainability performance framework, including KPIs, targets, scorecards, and reporting mechanisms across all Business Units.
• Monitor progress against SeaChange® 2030 commitments and identify performance risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
• Deliver executive-level dashboards, insights, and performance reviews to support management, Sustainability Committee, and Board decision-making.
• Drive corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives to improve sustainability outcomes across the Group.

• Lead all sustainability reporting and disclosures, ensuring compliance with regulatory, investor, customer, and other stakeholder requirements.
• Establish robust ESG controls, governance processes, evidence management systems, and assurance readiness across the organisation.
• Monitor emerging sustainability regulations, frameworks, and disclosure standards and assess business impacts and readiness requirements.
• Serve as the central point of coordination for external assurance, ESG audits, investor inquiries, customer disclosures, and sustainability reporting obligations.

• Lead engagement with ESG ratings agencies, benchmark providers, investors, NGOs, and customers.
• Own performance and submissions for key assessments including S&P Global, MSCI, FAIRR, World Benchmarking Alliance, CDP, EcoVadis, and FTSE Russell.
• Conduct peer benchmarking, gap assessments, and trend analysis to identify opportunities for performance improvement and reputation enhancement.
• Provide forward-looking intelligence on investor expectations, ESG trends, and sustainability risks that may impact Thai Union's competitiveness and reputation.

 

• Define and execute the enterprise ESG data strategy, ensuring high-quality, auditable, and integrated sustainability data across the Group.
• Lead automation and digitalisation of sustainability reporting, performance management, and disclosure processes.
• Partner with Digital and IT teams to develop scalable ESG data platforms, reporting ecosystems, and management dashboards.
• Deploy AI and advanced analytics capabilities that improve data collection, validation, forecasting, insight generation, and decision support.

• Define and lead Thai Union's global traceability roadmap and transparency strategy across priority supply chains.
• Ensure sustainability data is integrated across sourcing, supplier, operational, and customer systems to provide end-to-end visibility and transparency.
• Drive deployment of digital traceability platforms and technologies that strengthen sustainability performance, transparency, and stakeholder trust.

• Embed sustainability performance management into business planning, strategy development, operational reviews, and investment decisions.
• Establish governance frameworks and accountability mechanisms that support delivery of sustainability commitments across the Group.
• Drive alignment across Sustainability, Finance, Procurement, Operations, Digital, Investor Relations, Legal, and Communications functions.
• Act as the enterprise integrator connecting sustainability strategy, performance, reporting, ratings, data, and business execution.

 

Candidate Profile

 

Thai Union is seeking a technically rigorous, commercially astute sustainability leader with the credibility and drive to transform how a world-leading seafood company measures and manages its sustainability performance. The ideal candidate will bring:

• 12 or more years of experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, sustainability performance management, data governance, risk, finance, consulting, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated expertise in sustainability disclosure frameworks, ESG ratings, external assurance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Proven experience leading enterprise data transformation, system implementation, automation, or digital innovation programmes.
• Strong understanding of ESG data architecture, governance, analytics, AI applications, and business intelligence solutions.
• Experience influencing senior executives and leading complex cross-functional initiatives in multinational organisations.
• Experience with supply chain transparency, traceability systems, or sustainability technology platforms preferred.
