Acre is proudly partnering with The Global Electronics Council (GEC) in their search for a Senior Director of Finance.
About GEC
The Global Electronics Council (GEC) is a purpose-driven nonprofit that accelerates sustainable electronics adoption through market leadership, certification programs, and strategic partnerships. We work at the intersection of sustainability and technology standards, partnering with manufacturers, procurement bodies, and policymakers worldwide.
The Role
GEC is at an inflection point. With revenue in the $5.5–6M range, multi-entity complexity, and ambitious plans for growth, we need a finance leader who combines technical rigor with strategic vision and a genuine enabler mindset.
The Senior Director of Finance is a senior leadership team member responsible for full financial stewardship of GEC and its related entities. This is a strategic role — shaping organizational strategy, modernizing financial infrastructure, and serving as a trusted thought partner to the CEO and Board. The successful candidate will transform a fragmented finance function into a modern, strategically oriented operation.
What You'll Do
- Serve as strategic thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership — contributing to multi-year growth strategy, modelling, and reporting.
- Lead annual budgeting and maintain multi-year scenario forecasts tied to revenue diversification and organizational OKRs.
- Drive the consolidation and modernization of GEC's finance technology stack, replacing fragmented systems with an integrated platform.
- Manage all accounting, audit, tax, payroll, and compliance functions across GEC and its related entities (Leiten LLC and the Circular Electronics Partnership).
- Serve as staff leads for the Board Finance Committee — preparing and presenting financial packages that provide interpretation, context, and strategic recommendations.
- Manage treasury, banking relationships, insurance, and cash flow; oversee contract review and risk management.
- Translate complex financial information into clear narratives for the Board, funders, and staff at all levels.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting manager and accounting assistant — building team capability and capacity over time.
What We're Looking For
- CPA required (or CMA); Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; Master's preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership, with at least 5 years at the director level or above.
- Experience in nonprofit, NGO, or purpose-driven organizations — working knowledge of 501(c)(3), (c)(4), and (c)(6) structures.
- Demonstrated experience leading finance system modernization or multi-entity consolidation.
- Strong GAAP knowledge; proficiency in financial modeling; QuickBooks Online experience preferred.
- An enabler mindset — someone who finds solutions within constraints, earns trust through problem-solving, and makes finance a strategic asset rather than a bottleneck.
- Genuine commitment to sustainability and the mission of GEC.
What We Offer
- A high-impact leadership role with direct partnership with the CEO and Board.
- Significant scope to build and modernize a finance function — with lasting organizational impact.
- Fully remote working environment with flexibility to connect in-person in Portland or Washington DC.
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience; comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage; retirement savings plan; three weeks' vacation; generous holiday leave including Spring and Winter Holiday weeks; and Stretch Fridays (every third Friday off).
