Acre is excited to be partnering with an innovative AgTech business in the livestock space as they make their first-ever hire in Canada. This isn't a "manage the existing playbook" kind of role; it's a ground-floor opportunity for someone who knows Canadian cattle country, has the commercial instincts to open a new market, and thrives on figuring things out on the fly.
If that sounds like you, read on.
The Role
Our client has built a proven, market-leading technology solution that is transforming the way livestock farmers manage their land and animals. Already established across multiple international markets, Canada is their next major growth opportunity.
You'll be their first commercial and operational leader in Canada: equal parts strategist, salesperson, and brand builder. You'll own the Canadian P&L, build the go-to-market strategy, and be the face of the business to producers, partners, and industry stakeholders. One week, you're sorting out warehouse logistics. The next time you're on a panel at a major ag conference. That's the job.
You'll have the full backing of an experienced international team while you find your footing, but the ambition is to build your own local team in sales and customer success as the market grows.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Driving sales from the ground up — inbound inquiries, proactive outbound, and everything in between
-
Establishing the legal and operational footprint in Canada — from engaging government bodies to owning the P&L, forecasting, and resource planning
-
Building relationships with key customers, distributors, and industry players
-
Representing the business at livestock events, trade shows, and industry forums
-
Developing and executing go-to-market and marketing strategies in collaboration with the international team
-
Feeding Canadian market insights back into product and commercial planning
What We're Looking For
-
A genuine connection to Canadian livestock agriculture; you understand the producers you'll be selling to
-
8+ years in commercial roles (sales, business development, or marketing), ideally in agriculture or ag-tech
-
Proven experience building from scratch: operations, markets, or teams
-
An entrepreneurial mindset: you move fast, thrive in ambiguity, and make things happen
-
Based in Alberta, with a willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally
-
Native-level English; French is a bonus
What's On Offer
The chance to build and lead an entirely new market with real autonomy and real impact, backed by a mission-driven international team that has already proven the model works. As Canada grows, so does your role.
