Lyondell Basell is a global leading Petrochemical company, with offices in London, Rotterdam, Houston and Hong Kong. Having prioritised the need to develop their sustainability program as an integrated element in their business strategy and operations, Acre partnered on the search for a new leader to drive this agenda to create value for stakeholders in a way which was consistent with their mission and values.
Acre’s search for a Global Director of Sustainability, based out of Rotterdam, led us to engage leaders across the entire petrochemicals value chain, covering a wide range of sustainability themes including circular economy. The successful candidate needed to have a fantastic personal network across the industry as well as the gravitas and credibility to influence and steer Exco decisions relating to sustainability.
Acre’s unique network allowed us to, in partnership with the business, engage with individuals at key stages of the petrochems and chemicals value chain, establishing the best fit to drive the business forward strategically while simultaneously horizon scanning for future risks and opportunities within the industry.
The successful candidate not only had a well established and credible personal network from a previous role with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, but led impact investment strategy within private equity. This provided an understanding some of the key risks and opportunities facing global corporations across the industry.
This individual will be responsible for spearheading the creation of a companywide vision, strategy, action plan, structure, goals, values and identity related to sustainability for 2020 and beyond.
