After supporting the International Tin Association (ITA) with this critical hire - both for the organisation and for the tin industry as a whole - we're delighted to share that the ITA has appointed Helen Prins as its new CEO.

"It was a pleasure to lead the recruitment for this critical role in the minerals sector and I'm excited to see the ITA go from strength to strength under Helen's leadership." - Dan Bond, Senior Consultant - Mining, Minerals, Manufacturing

Who is Helen Prins?

Helen joins ITA from Shell where she has held sustainability roles for over 20 years, based in the UK, The Netherlands and Nigeria. Helen’s most recent assignment was leading a cross-functional team to increase in-country value from major energy investments. Prior to this, she managed Shell’s Sustainability Report and global social investment portfolio. In 2021, Helen received an outstanding contribution award for work on generating prosperity for countries and communities as part of Shell’s Powering Progress strategy.

“ITA is delighted to welcome Helen into the world of tin” commented Anthony Turner, ITA Board Chairman. “We see many opportunities opening for this unique metal to demonstrate its contribution to a sustainable future. Helen’s experience with global scale industry initiatives that deliver shared value to both investors and society comes at the right time for our industry.

Helen commented: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to bring my experience of driving strategic change to the tin industry. It is such an exciting time with tin’s increasing role as an enabler of a decarbonised future. I am very much looking forward to being a part of ITA and continuing its leading work on so many fronts.”

Who is the ITA?

With nearly 90 years experience and representing more than two thirds of world tin production, ITA aims to bring leading companies together to give authority, leadership and voice to its members. Its expert analysis of tin markets and technologies enables the industry to confidently invest in expanding supply. What impact will the CEO make?

  • Drive recognition for tin as an innovative, competitive & sustainable metal

  • Lead ITA's purpose: To bring leading companies together to protect and grow markets for tin by showcasing its superior technical properties, contributing to sustainable development and improved quality of life.

  • Ensure responsible production in challenging Artisinal & Small-Scale Mines - benefiting the community of 100 million people in rural & developing areas working at ASMs
