Key Responsibilities:

The role requires managing concurrent research projects to demanding deadlines and involves regular interaction with external parties, including clients, various project partners, and other stakeholders across the sustainable investment space.

  • Analysing complex data and conceptual problems through the application of data science techniques to develop market-leading methodologies for defining and measuring corporate sustainability performance. Demonstrable experience of applying these techniques to large datasets is required

  • Delivering incisive research & analysis around the low carbon transition and other key sustainability trends across asset classes, industries and regions

  • Collaborating in multi-stakeholder research projects and providing analytical support for clients and internal stakeholders

Data analysis:

  • Developing data set processes for data modelling, mining and production of quantitative models

  • Acting as an SME with internal stakeholders to inform the development and refinement of database architectures, data management, policies, and procedures

  • Developing and implementing processes to monitor & improve data quality across a range of corporate sustainability datasets

Candidate Profile / Key Skills:

The successful applicant will have a deeply analytical mind, with an acute eye for detail while at the same time being a confident communicator and effective project manager. It is expected that with limited supervision the candidate will be able to deliver all key aspects of the role identified above. The candidate will bring along relevant work experience in data science; experience working in sustainability and/or financial services is also desirable. Familiarity with the Sustainable Investment landscape in London or other financial centres is highly desirable.

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science/Analytics, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or similar required; Post Graduate degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or similar preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant field (e.g. data science, financial services; a role in government/ intergovernmental organizations/research agencies with a focus on environmental data/modelling,) preferably as a Data Engineer/Analyst/Scientist

  • Strong programming experience in Python, R, MATLAB, C/C++ or Java

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning / Deep Learning / Reinforcement Learning / NLP

  • A good understanding of economic, political and financial issues linked to climate change, the low carbon transition and the sustainable investment landscape. Detailed knowledge on how companies manage and report on ESG issues is an asset.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential and experience in communicating with senior executives is desirable.

  • Project management experience, organizational and time management skills.

  • Language skills are an asset.
