Are you passionate about using financial insights to drive sustainable investment whilst positively impacting supply chains?

We are looking for a Commercial Finance Lead for the sustainability team who will play a key role in developing sustainability projects and investments to de-carbonise agri-commodity supply chains, positively impacting farmer livelihoods whilst strengthening food and feed systems and ensuring business viability. This role will report to the Group Chief Sustainability Officer whilst also partnering with the CR&S unit, finance, strategic investments, business development team and the Treasury.

Our client is one of the largest agri-commodity traders, and this role sits within the business unit that supplies food, feed and fibre to meet rising demand and a shift to protein-based diets, particularly in Asian and African countries. Headquartered in Singapore and present on all continents, their value chains include farming, processing and distribution operations, as well as a sourcing network of an estimated 2.5 million farmers. As a purpose-driven company, they aim to contribute positively to the prosperity and well-being of people along their supply chains, the protection and regeneration of their natural resource base, and the fight against climate change.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Decision Support:

  • Develop business models and financial projections to assist decision-making for sustainability investments, such as carbon project development.

  • Support budgeting and funding for the CR&S department and its programs, including financial portions of grant proposal writing.

  • Support responses to inquiries from banks and investors.

Data Analysis and Metrics Development:

  • Gather and analyse information related to farmers' financial viability to support the development of livelihoods programs.

  • Develop metrics, methodologies, and tools for measuring outputs and impacts, especially financial impacts to the company and the target audience (farmers and communities).

  • Generate insights from large amounts of data and develop practical systems for relevant business users to access and visualise data insights.

  • Identify opportunities to automate data collection and management.

Strategic Planning and Advisory:

  • Advise on problems and suggest improvements.

  • Collaborate with the CSO and CR&S unit leads - environment, social, governance, and partnership development - on the above responsibilities.

  • Collaborate with specific business units and functions such as Finance, Strategic Investments and Business Development, and Treasury.

As part of the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability team, this position will business partner closely with the CSO and CR&S unit leads, providing the financial perspective whilst also contributing to the company's wider sustainability goals. This position will ideally be situated in Singapore.

Key Qualifications:

  • Passion for sustainable agriculture and food systems

  • Strong management accounting skills (budgeting, profitability models)

  • Excellent data sourcing and analysis capabilities

  • Proficiency in graphical data visualisation

  • Effective communication and presentation skills

  • Relevant university degree (management accounting, data analytics, business administration, or related)

  • Additional language skills (French is an asset)
