The Responsible Commodities Sourcing Initiative (RECOSI) is a non-profit organisation that drives continuous improvement in responsible commodity sourcing. They guide and support members in due diligence monitoring of their supply chains and support producers to enhance their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

RECOSI is a new initiative. It will encompass Bettercoal, which has been operating for over a decade, supporting the just transition in the coal sector. RECOSI is looking to create a globally recognised standard for the gas sector, driving continuous improvements across social and environmental performance. You will report to the Executive Director of RECOSI, but you will be responsible for developing, driving and delivering the new international standard.

This position offers an excellent chance to work with a small organisation in its growth phase, strategically delivering a responsible sourcing initiative to create a more sustainable sector.

In this role, you will be:

  • Leading on stakeholder engagement by ensuring that RECOSI Gas is engaging with key stakeholder groups throughout the development of this initiative

  • Supporting the RECOSI team in targeting gas producers to join the organisation's membership, using knowledge and contacts in the industry to build support for it

  • Managing the development of a due diligence framework by providing an effective first step for members in line with their requirements

  • Developing the material used to approach suppliers, engaging stakeholders in the process, liaising with all parties and being the key contact in the collation of information

  • Running the programme by working alongside the RECOSI Senior Leaders to drive the group engagement, ensuring meaningful progress against project deadlines is achieved

This position is a great opportunity for an individual committed to working with multiple stakeholders to drive positive change in a highly complex sector. You will have an impact through sharing expertise, influencing perspectives and inspiring action.

You will bring:

  • An understanding of ESG issues and challenges in the gas industry, and the existing standards, organisations and programmes in this space

  • An outstanding level of project management and communication skills, in-depth knowledge of the gas industry, with an existing network that will support the growth of the RECOSI Gas Programme, and a willingness to travel in support of the initiative

  • Experience working with or for multi-stakeholder groups, preferably with an understanding of how they operate

  • Confidence in presenting to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives

  • The ability to problem-solve intellectual and technical challenges, synthesise information and clearly communicate complex information

If you are looking for a great opportunity to be the key driver in developing a new responsible commodity sourcing initiative, supporting the just transition, then please feel free to apply, or email Lawrence Hallett at lawrence.hallett@acre.com.
