Our client, the Climate Safe Lending Network (CSLN), is an international multi-stakeholder collaborative is seeking an Executive Director to oversee the growth and development of their network of sustainable finance leaders dedicated to aligning bank lending with the goals of the Paris Agreement and a just transition. The network is regarded as an important part of the climate finance landscape, bringing a systemic perspective and the opportunity to have more congruent conversations that accelerate change.  To lead in the next phase of this network’s evolution, they seek an executive experienced in sustainable finance and multi-stakeholder collaboration in an international context.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advance the work of the non-profit by ensuring that it has the strategy, people, and resources needed to accomplish its goals.

  • Represent the non-profit to other organizations, including partners, funders, and other sustainable finance actors.

  • Actively fundraise and manage existing donors & grants.

  • Manage key initiatives, which include:

    • Connecting and supporting banking professionals who are advancing the climate finance agenda within their institutions.

    • Engaging commercial and central bank leaders in shifting the narrative about financial regulation to encompass financial and planetary stability.

    • Mobilizing commercial and retail clients to collectively influence banks to transition to climate-safe lending practices.

  • Oversee operations, which includes supervising a remote staff, budgeting, fundraising, and developing an advisory board.

  • Attend and represent at sustainable finance meetings, conferences, and events including international climate finance groups, such as Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, Net Zero Banking Alliance, Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials, Science Based Targets Initiative, etc.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUESTED:

  • Professional background in banking, sustainable finance, climate and/or environmental sustainability.

  • 10+ years of experience in a senior leadership role, preferably for international nonprofit and/or private-sector organizations.

  • Expertise in cross-sector collaboration, networks, alliances, and/or systems change, particularly in an international context.

  • Proven ability to fundraise as well as grow and diversify revenue streams.

  • Adept at strategic planning and managing the sustainable growth of organizations.

  • Skilled in building and maintaining collaborative relationships, especially in sustainable finance, banking, and environmental sustainability; robust professional network desired.

  • Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

This is a remote position for a US-based nonprofit.
