Acre is partnering with John Swire & Sons Ltd - an international conglomerate covering a diversified global portfolio of businesses in the food chain, marine, bio-fuels and industrial sectors - on a newly created Group Nature and Climate Manager role.

They have a long-term outlook on responsible business, and this role is critical to the work currently being undertaken by the Sustainable Development team in London. You will be a self-starter end-to-end project manager who can refine, project manage and deliver a high-quality nature restoration and carbon offsetting investment strategy,

You will be responsible for:

  • Owning the development of an environmental restoration investment strategy with biodiversity co-benefits and carbon removal credits in line with long-term JS&S climate targets

  • Acting as the strategy owner and main point of contact for supporting 3rd parties. Designing and executing a small number of large nature-based projects while monitoring progress against the strategy and reporting to senior stakeholders

  • Monitoring and preparing reports on the progress of projects and the strategy, including biodiversity benefits and carbon credit generation.

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders within JS&S and external partners to identify and progress high-impact JS&S-owned projects together with supporting developers, managers, certifiers and local stakeholders.

Reporting directly to the Group Head of Sustainability, you will have the opportunity to take the lead on defining a biodiversity and carbon-offsetting investment strategy within a world-renowned private firm. You will be sourcing, developing and reporting on major international projects to help the company towards its ambitious climate goals, focusing on nature-based solutions leading to environmental and social benefits.

You will already have:

  • Thorough professional network in the space and 4+ years of experience working with nature-based projects or similar.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of carbon offsetting and biodiversity, including relevant certification methodologies, regulatory considerations and financial fundamentals

  • Good knowledge of Ecology, either professionally or academically

  • End-to-end project management experience, including planning, communication and financial analysis.

This role is based in London, and you will need to be in the office 3 days a week.
