Acre has partnered with GlaxoSmithKline on a retained basis to recruit for a brand new Director of Communications and Government Affairs for Sustainability (CGA) hire within GSK's Consumer Health division based in London.

GSK is a FTSE100 global leader in Consumer Health. Their portfolio covers a range of household names across pain relief, respiratory, digestive health, oral health, nutrition and skin health categories. As a business they pride themselves on three main priorities; innovation, performance and trust, reflected through their £3.9bn investment in R&D in 2018 and constantly placing 1st in Access to Medicines Index since the assessment began in 2008.

The Director of CGA will work across both Communications & Gov Affairs and Sustainability. You will be joining the business at an integral time in the sustainability and corporate affairs strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a global CGA strategy for sustainability

  • Create GSK Consumer Health policy position on key environmental and social sustainability areas and ensure alignment with the wider GSK sustainability agenda

  • Define key topics and markets for proactive and reactive engagement and environment shaping

  • Identify, secure and manage key external partners to support and help deliver sustainability strategy

  • Partner with the Head of Sustainability and support their work as a member of the Consumer Goods Forum's Sustainability Committee

  • Participate on the Sustainability Lead Team and Consumer Healthcare CGA Lead Team

We are seeking a collaborative team-player to drive the strategy and work closely with the wider Sustainability Team, communicating the key sustainability messaging across multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate will understand how to listen, leverage opportunities and partnerships, manage risks and maintain a strong corporate reputation.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in Communications and Government Affairs for Sustainability

  • Highly collaborative with experience working in a matrixed organization

  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity, define new approaches and drive clarity in an evolving environment

  • Good judgment, strategic thinking and thought leadership

  • Support and counsel to senior leaders

  • Familiarity with metrics-based communications planning, media strategy, and stakeholder management

  • University degree in Communications, Politics or Business
