Acre is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading property development business to identify their new Head of ESG.

The Head of ESG will be responsible for providing leadership across a wide range of sustainability, ESG, and social value issues, driving the company's ESG strategy, and promoting social and environmental responsibility.

Their ambition is to integrate ESG values into the DNA of the business. Our client is involved at every stage of a neighbourhood's life cycle, from design and development, through to operation - this role will enable ESG values to be integrated into every department and everyone's role. This strategic role will drive this goal and focus on the development and implementation of comprehensive initiatives that consider the range of ESG aspects.

The Head of ESG reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with the Head of Net Zero to ensure alignment and collaboration on climate-related initiatives, while maintaining a strong focus on the broader aspects of ESG and social value. Key responsibilities & accountabilities

  • Provide thought leadership on sustainability, ESG, and social value issues, guiding the Sustainability Committee and any sub-committees.

  • Develop and implement the company's ESG and social value strategy, objectives, and targets, ensuring alignment with the company's overall sustainability goals.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant ESG standards, frameworks, and reporting requirements.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve sustainability goals, improve asset performance, and enhance stakeholder engagement.

  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels to share sustainability achievements, best practices, and social value initiatives both internally and externally.

  • Manage annual forecasting and budgeting for sustainability and ESG activities.

You will bring a market-leading network to ensure that their approach to sustainability remains at the cutting edge, realising its full potential and adding value to all.

You will also have the following:

  • Previous sustainability experience, preferably within the built environment/real estate sectors.

  • Experience with ESG/sustainability reporting standards, frameworks, and ratings.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

  • Strong knowledge of sustainability and ESG issues.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies.

  • Willingness to lead, influence and coach colleagues and direct reports.
