Are you an experienced analyst with an interest in development finance?

The Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) is an innovative infrastructure project developer and investor which mobilises private investment in sustainable and inclusive infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa and South and South-East Asia.

Acre is now supporting an additional hire on the impact team to support (with a direct promotional path to lead) the sustainable development impact evaluation, research and learning activities. They will also provide ad hoc support to the implementation of the impact management systems across the group.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluation, research and learning

  • Supporting the delivery of key evaluation and learning workstreams under the PIDG learning strategy, including but not limited to project evaluations, lessons learning products, economic impact assessments, end-user surveys, thematic reviews and reporting against the learning strategy.

  • Contributing to a suite of learning engagements to ensure findings and knowledge generated is suitably communicated and used to inform continuous improvement. This includes PIDG Institute workshops, methods and systems improvements, knowledge sharing and outreach products.

  • Analytical and research support to PIDG impact management system, including on initiatives related to PIDG Strategy, market and thematic studies, servicing external evaluations and Owner requests.

Sustainable Development Impact review of prospective investments

  • Provide quality input to the regular ex-ante review of prospective deals to impact specialists across the Group as part of PIDG Sustainable Development Impact review and endorsement process.

  • Conduct analysis and research on specific investments or themes (e.g., Gender Equality Assessments) to support or quality assure impact claims and draft summary assessments in agreed formats.

  • Support impact specialists across the Group to implement recommendations and monitoring requirements from the Sustainable Development Impact review process.

Contribution to the PIDG Impact team

  • Contribute to the continuous development of PIDG impact management systems and integration with Health Safety Environmental and Social (HSES), Risk and Finance.

  • Contribute to the overall work of the Sustainable Development Impact team and network across PIDG.

Experience Sought

  • Demonstrable work experience in a relevant field, preferably within development finance institution, (impact) investment or management consultancy industry.

  • Demonstrable and extensive experience in research and quantitative analysis, ideally to assist evaluation or economic analysis-related (country, sector or project-level) work.

  • Experience/understanding of impact management and achieving development outcomes through investments.

  • Experience in evaluation or related research methods, tools and approaches is desirable.

  • Work experience/knowledge related to climate, gender, nature/biodiversity or disability impacts of investments is desirable.

  • Demonstrable understanding of infrastructure investment and/or capital market development in emerging markets and developing economies is desirable.

  • Work experience in developing countries, preferably in Africa and South Asia, is desirable.

  • Degree in a relevant economics, finance, statistics, social science, or international development discipline
