We are currently collaborating with a global mining organisation based in the Balkans in search of an expert who can be hands-on, providing on-the-ground training and strategic guidance to an ambitious and forward-thinking team. Your role will be pivotal in instilling a deep understanding of environmental standards, laws, and best practices within the extractives sector.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will leverage your expertise to inspire and lead the team towards becoming proficient and highly aware of these critical standards.

Please note: This is a 12-month contract, 5 days on-site in a Balkan country. There is potential for expenses and accommodation to be covered in this contract.

The general responsibilities include:

      1. Helping build the skillset and experience of the senior leadership and their wider team across environmental issues relevant to the successful operation of a modern, responsible mine

      2. Acting as an expert on-the-ground adviser as they look to support, collaborate, and engage with the wider mining and operational teams at the mine site

      3. Supporting efforts to ensure that environmental considerations are fully understood and integrated into operational planning, decision-making, and project design development

This role is for you if you:

      • Are someone with at least 5 years of on-the-ground environmental and environmental services-related experience working at operational mine sites

      • Have specific experience working at operational mine sites sharing similar geology, topography, hydrology, hydrogeology, and other characteristics that are experienced at the Adriatic site with regard to water, sediment control, acid rock drainage, soil erosion control, forests, biodiversity, waste rocks, tailings facilities, rehabilitation and reclamations, etc.

      • Are able to combine direct expertise/experience of international, environmental mining standards (e.g. EBRD, IFC, ICMM) and methods
