APSCA (Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors) has partnered with Acre to recruit a new CEO following the decision of their esteemed leader Rona Starr to retire after a successful tenure.

Under Rona's visionary leadership, APSCA has achieved significant growth and strategic expansion, establishing a strong foundation in building a professional standards body for social compliance auditors. The Executive Board is now looking for an exceptional President & CEO to take APSCA forward in this next chapter of growth and extends their heartfelt gratitude to Rona, who will remain in post until her successor has been found.

APSCA is the professional standards body for independent social compliance auditors and enjoys the support of some of the largest brands and retailers in the world and the partnership of the major social compliance collaborative programs. APSCA-certified auditors conduct tens of thousands of social compliance audits annually, benefiting hundreds of millions of supply chain workers globally through the identification of labor violations.

Opportunity

Building on APSCA's success, the organization is now poised to implement its next long-term strategy and is seeking an experienced global leader to drive the next evolution of the organization and its impact. The President & CEO will report to the Executive Board and lead an expert, global team responsible for membership, testing and certification, technology, compliance, finance, communications, privacy, and external affairs.

Specifically, the position will be responsible for the following:

Vision and Mission:

  • The President & CEO's role is to foster relationships with all relevant parties and stakeholders to ensure that organizational priorities, activities, staffing, and finances are aligned with and working towards the advancement of APSCA's vision and mission.

Strategy Development, Implementation and Long-Term Planning:

  • Implement the agreed-upon 2030 strategy, setting near- and long-term goals to further build the quality and professionalism of the social compliance auditing profession.

Team Management:

  • Leverage the talents of a high-performing global senior leadership team. Communicate an inspiring vision for the team to deliver effectively. Delegate generously and effectively, oversee team performance, and provide regular feedback.

Industry Leadership and Communications:

  • Deliver an inspiring, clear, and effective message about APSCA's contributions and progress. Lead major announcements and represent the organization at relevant international forums, stakeholder engagements and other public communications.

Board Engagement:

  • Report to the Executive Board and provide regular and substantive updates on organizational impact, planning, and priorities. Engage the Stakeholder Advisory Board to ensure external perceptions are taken into account in advancing APSCA's mission.

Operational Effectiveness:

  • Ensure that key organizational priorities are met by effectively utilizing staff and financial resources, developing and enhancing business processes, and establishing a roadmap and key performance indicators for program implementation.

Financial Management:

  • Ensure APSCA's budget is financially viable and effectively deployed. With the Executive Board and senior leadership team, develop financial plans to support growth, quality and ethics of the certified auditor profession.

Member Engagement:

  • Deliver services, support, professional development, and communications to individual auditors and member firms. Drive enhanced awareness, adoption, membership or other support among member auditors, audit firms, brands/retailers, and collaborative programs and set clear priorities and engagement strategies.

Organizational Compliance:

  • Ensure the organization is in compliance with all relevant national, state and local laws and regulations and with standard accounting procedures.

Position Requirements Include:

  • Commitment to advancing APSCA's mission and strategy.

  • Extensive experience in the field of business and human rights, corporate social responsibility, responsible sourcing, and/or social compliance auditing.

  • Experience leading a non-profit, social enterprise, or start-up organization preferred.

  • Ability to assess global and macro trends and envision and communicate APSCA's place in the field of human rights and business.

  • Executive presence; superior verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills; and expertise in engaging stakeholders at the highest global level.

  • Experience overseeing an array of organizational functions from compliance to legal to finance and more.

  • Proven ability to leverage team talents and inspire staff, members, and stakeholders to achieve the organization's vision and priorities.

  • Experience with change leadership and change-management.

  • Respect for a global, diverse, inclusive, and equitable world of work.

  • Ability to travel globally approximately 20% of the time and adapt as needed for resource or public health constraints.

Location

APSCA is incorporated in the USA and operates remotely. APSCA currently has team members located in 4 countries. It is preferred that the location of the applicant be in North America or Europe.
