The role: Regulatory Affairs Specialist - Sustainability

In this role, you will be monitoring sustainability regulation and policy developments at the Italian, European and Global levels. Ensuring PVM global organisation maintains a thorough knowledge and in-depth understanding of sustainability regulatory principles and guidelines.

As Regulatory Affairs Specialist - Sustainability, you will be joining the global department of regulatory affairs based in Lainate (Milan, Italy), reporting to the Global Lead of Regulatory Affairs Sustainability.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Monitor, study and interpret food packaging regulations mainly related to: green claims, packaging waste, recyclability, overpackaging and slack fill, waste disposal

  • Prepare and issue communications on legislation in scope carrying out its impact on the Company's products

  • Prepare written advice on green claims proposed by marketing to assess their feasibility and compliance

  • Analyse the impact of waste disposal regulations on our packaging and support its implementation, also preparing guideline

  • Participate in the discussions cross-function on projects, sharing advice and providing inputs

  • Work with external contacts (e.g. consultants) and participate in association meetings

  • Collaborate with other colleagues, supporting them in interpreting legislation and assessing projects

  • Degree in Law, Environment Economics, Environmental Science and Sustainability, Engineering

  • Experience in regulatory affairs within a corporate environment, a consulting or a law firm

  • Subject matter expertise in sustainability and environmental laws at the international level with a track record working on topics such as green claims, single plastic use, and packaging

  • High interest in legal and technical aspects of regulations and ability to provide clear and effective written advice

  • You can communicate and present technical concepts and results relating to environmental sustainability KPIs to a non-technical audience

  • A detail-oriented, self-motivated and highly organised mindset with solid problem-solving skills.

  • Italian and English language fluency is a must-have to drive change in this role

  • Being based, open to relocate, within a commuting distance from Lainate (Milan)
