For our client, a French fashion house that focuses on high end fashion, luxury goods and accessories, we have been exclusively retained to search for a Sustainability Data Expert that will join their Fashion Sustainability team in Paris. Reporting to the Sustainability Director, you will be an integral part of the Fashion team, working closely with the rest of the sustainability team, the Fashion operational teams, and the global sustainability teams, to support ongoing sustainable transformation projects across the Fashion value chain, in relation to their products and everything around them.
About the Job
Through this critical role within our client's Fashion's sustainability department, the sustainability data expert will support the other sustainability managers on their value chain programmes to ensure objective, scientifically robust insights appropriately inform quantitative studies and help drive operational decisions. The Sustainability Data Expert will help bring our client's sustainability impact monitoring program to the next level.
Responsibilities include:
Determine approach to evaluation of impacts on environmental issues, including climate change and biodiversity loss, along the value chain, working in close collaboration with other members of the sustainability team at division and corporate level
Provide technical expertise to conduct and help interpret environmental and social life cycle assessments (LCAs) on materials, processes and products within the Fashion division
Represent the organisation in technical sustainability impact measurement working groups at country (France), European and global level, when appropriate
Provide expertise on sustainability impacts and trade-offs for materials used in the Fashion division (including textiles, leather, metals and plastics)
Support internal capacity building on sustainability impact measurement within operational teams to facilitate better decision making on sustainability trade-offs
Keep up with the latest developments in corporate action and leading practice on sustainability impact measurement, with a view to applying said practices to the fashion business
Qualifications:
Masters in business, sustainability or environmental sciences and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in corporate sustainability, either in-house or in applied consulting
Strong knowledge of environmental footprint approaches and methodologies - GHG protocol, Science Based Targets for carbon and nature
Knowledge of and experience with material, product and enterprise environmental footprinting eg. LCA approaches and product environmental footprint approaches
Strong knowledge of collaborative platforms in the sustainable fashion
Strong project management skills
Good relationship skills and trust building in a complex environment.
Collaborative approach transversally and globally
Strong communications skills
Critical thinking skills - ability to think analytically and problem solve
Information seeking capabilities - in order to fill data gaps, identify critical information needs, and develop workaround solutions as needed
High degree of fluency in French and English
