We are currently supporting a US family office in their search for a Climate-tech Specialist to join their small team in London. The family office makes private venture capital fund and direct investments into early-stage, highly disruptive technologies that have the potential to materially reduce greenhouse gas emissions across multiple sectors. The family office also manages two foundations providing philanthropic support to organisations accelerating action on climate change across various themes, including, protecting natural ecosystems, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and/or helping people adapt to a changing climate.

Working alongside two investment officers and the principal, this individual will be supporting the team by leading on technical due diligence of potential investment opportunities and conducting research on the broader clean technology ecosystem.


  • Leading the technical due diligence process of investments, speaking directly with the start-ups and scientists, analysing risks and strengths of different technologies being developed, understanding the competitive and regulatory landscape, performing cost-benefit and green premium analysis, and presenting written reports and/or oral presentations on the topics researched.

  • Conducting research on the clean technology ecosystem to better understand the latest innovations, commercial success, failures as well as the challenges in the space.

  • Engaging with stakeholders across the clean technology ecosystem with the aim of exchanging knowledge and strengthening relationships with top scientists and industry experts.

  • Continued monitoring and assessment of a portfolio of clean tech investments.


  • Experience working in the clean tech/sustainable energy industry, ideally in the private sector, looking at the funding, development and/or commercial deployment of clean technologies.

  • Ability to translate complex analyses and synthesize into key insights for decision-making.

  • Familiarity with techno-economic analyses, technical road maps, IP strategy and market analysis.

  • Outstanding academic background in engineering, sciences or related disciplines, including a master's degree or PhD in climate science or relevant disciplines, e.g. energy systems, chemical engineering, process engineering, materials science, electrochemistry, catalysis, geochemistry, critical metals or carbon removal.

  • Strong communication and project management skills.

  • Right to work in the UK.
