The Earthshot Prize (TEP), founded in 2020 by Prince William, is a global environment prize designed to incentivise change and help repair our planet over the next ten years. It is centred around five 'Earthshots' - simple but ambitious goals for our planet which if achieved by 2030 will improve life for us all, for generations to come.

After two years of running the Prize, TEP have assessed thousands of the best environmental initiatives around the world. They have successfully built and structured methods for accelerating the 15 finalists selected each year.

The team is now seeking someone to drive the next significant step in its strategy: scaling support by driving capital investments to TEP's finalists and its broader portfolio of innovators.

The successful candidate will own the strategy to maximise capital flowing to its Innovation Portfolio and will be accountable in growing the total number of innovators accelerated with capital by facilitating solutions globally that match both the needs of its innovators (including start-ups, for-profits, NGOs, policy, and community initiatives) and its exceptional partnerships including commercial investors, impact investors, philanthropic organisations and carbon markets.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  1. Develop and own the strategy to maximise capital to TEP's Portfolio, including deeply understanding the needs of different segments in each side of its marketplace: innovators in our Portfolio and funders and investors.

  2. Establish a small team, set and own targets, and implement a mix of investor platform partnerships to connect whole segments of innovators from our Portfolio with the right types of capital with a high chance of successful matchmaking.

  3. Develop and validate the strategy for an investment programme within The Earthshot Prize that offers differentiated value to both innovators in our Portfolio and blended capital investors.

  4. Develop and nurture a community of blended capital investors and funders across the spectrum of grantmakers, family offices, impact investors, VCs, etc.

  5. Own ongoing investment support and funding for our alumni.

Experience Sought:

  1. Enthusiastic about working in a start-up organisation with a rapidly changing environment, and able to demonstrate how they you have successfully delivered against goals in such an environment.

  2. Builder and Entrepreneur. Driven and fast-moving, you will be able to demonstrate how you have previously developed new platforms, products, or partnerships from scratch including explaining how you validated the value of these initiatives with customers or stakeholders, explaining how you drove the timeline for these initiatives, and the ultimate impact of the work.

  3. Direct experience working in an investment (e.g. Investment Banking, Venture Capital, or Philanthropy) or philanthropic environment is highly desirable with deep enthusiasm across relevant prize verticals.
