We are currently working with a hugely innovative impact private credit investment management firm who are seeking a Director of Carbon Finance to join their new sustainable finance fund. The goal of this new fund is to accelerate decarbonisation and improve climate resilience by providing debt to SMEs across emerging and frontier markets that are actively decarbonizing their operations. Carbon credits will act as part of the collateral and 'upside' in many of the transactions.

This role will give you the opportunity to work alongside the co-founder of the firm and head of the fund to develop the fund's carbon methodology, and as such, a track record of excellence in monitoring and monetizing carbon reductions is key to being successful in this role.

​

Responsibilities:

  • Create per-borrower carbon methodologies for forecasting and monitoring.

  • Conduct due diligence on carbon-based cash flows.

  • Assist borrowers in setting up carbon credit issuing capability.

  • Monetize carbon credits as part of the collateral package or upside in transactions.

  • Hire and manage consultants where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in carbon finance and environmental impact investing, where you have negotiated carbon-based contracts.

  • Strong understanding of carbon markets and regulations.

  • Excellent analytical skills and experience with carbon underwriting.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment; within a start-up culture.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience in emerging and frontier markets.
