Our client, with assets under management (AuM) exceeding €5 billion and a successful track record of over 20 years, is a leading private equity firm dedicated to energy transition and innovation.

This role will be a part of the Renewable Energy team, which has a remarkable 15-year record of accomplishment in creating strategic partnerships with European renewable energy developers and supporting them to become prominent independent power producers (IPPs). The team is currently raising its fifth-generation fund with a target size of €1.5bn, of which about €1bn has already been secured in only six months. The fund has a European mandate, and the international team has a track record of sourcing and executing investments in over 15 European countries since inception.

As the Director, you will identify and generate new investment opportunities for the renewable energy fund whilst overseeing the execution of investment deals from inception to completion, identifying and generating new investment opportunities in collaboration with the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate, negotiate, and structure acquisitions for Investment opportunities.

  • Negotiate and structure complex investment documents and agreements.

  • Develop and present investment recommendations to senior leadership and the investment committee.

  • Manage and mentor a team of principal (VP), associate and analyst-level professionals, providing guidance and support.

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including legal, finance, and operations teams, to ensure seamless execution of investment strategies.

  • Stay abreast of Renewable Energy industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes to make informed investment decisions.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including renewable energy developers, project owners, and industry experts.

  • Participate, on a case-by-case basis, in meetings with fund LPs and generally be able to represent and explain the fund's strategy and track record to external stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • Master's university degree in finance, economics, engineering or a related field.

  • Good understanding of the energy transition and implications for renewable energy producers.

  • 12-15 years of experience in acquiring, developing, and successfully divesting companies/assets in the Energy sector, gained either in industry, transaction services or consultancy.

  • A robust and active network within the corporate finance and broader intermediary community, as well as banks and other relevant organizations and platforms.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor junior team members effectively.

  • Solid understanding of financial markets, investment products, and risk management.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working in an international, dedicated, and highly motivated team.

  • Experience in travelling professionally in Europe, meeting and ability to build relationships internationally with different players of the energy transition.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Another language is a plus.
