MM Flowers is a dynamic fast-growing business supplying fresh-cut flowers and bouquets to consumers through retail and digital channels. The business has doubled in size over the last three years and has impressive expansion plans to grow further in the next few years. Being part of a sector with complex supply chains and sustainability issues, MM Flowers is keen to be at the forefront of sustainability and has created a new leadership role, Group ESG Director to develop and deliver an ESG strategy. You will drive the sustainability agenda for MM Flowers and its supply chain. In this role, you will report to the Managing Director and be responsible for driving change throughout the business across key issues related to environmental, social, and governance. It is an exciting new opportunity to be part of the leadership team, to influence change, and to create an impact in the sector.

You will be:

  • Defining ESG strategic objectives, targets, and measures

  • Developing MM Flowers policies across environmental issues such as waste, recycling, packaging, and carbon management and social issues such as ethical trade and gender

  • Representing MM Flowers on ESG and sustainability, developing an external engagement strategy with NGOs, trade associations, and stakeholders and influence internally at senior levels

  • Overseeing the monitoring of growers/suppliers including SEDEX self-assessments

  • Further developing the social audit agenda to improve worker voice communications with MM Flowers and key strategic growers

This is a rare opportunity to define and deliver an ESG strategy in a market-leading business with plans to create significant sustainability impact internationally. We are looking for a motivated and assured leader with experience in developing high-performance operational teams to deliver excellent results. Board-level experience is essential.

Key Experience

  • Experience of working across international ESG stakeholders ideally within fresh produce or relevant fresh food manufacturing sector

  • Experience in leading change with energy and enthusiasm in a fast-paced environment

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to engage and influence at a senior level

  • Experience of influencing and managing complex stakeholders

  • Demonstrable credibility in sustainable business transformation

  • Credibility and highly driven by building meaningful, sustainable relationships with colleagues and partners across various geographies
