Are you looking to make a significant impact as a senior leader within a global FTSE 250 organisation, reporting directly to the Group Head of Sustainability?

Acre has partnered with SSP to hire a Senior Group Sustainability Manager to lead the development of the Group's sustainability strategy and targets, engage with senior stakeholders up to board level, present to key customers and partners, and work with cross-functional teams, and support the implementation of programmes such as Carbon Neutral Restaurants, Climate-Friendly Menus and Sustainable Supplier Partnerships.

As a leading provider of world-class food and beverage brands in travel hotspots across the globe, SSP Group is best placed to help make the food travel sector more sustainable. As leaders in the sector, they aim to deliver value for all stakeholders in a way that provides longer-term sustainable growth. The Sustainability Strategy was launched in 2021, underpinned by industry-leading commitments; this has a focus on building governance and strategic management to drive change in the business and significantly improve its impact.

You will be:

  • Developing the Group sustainability strategy and targets, making sure that SSP remains aligned with the market on emerging issues

  • In a senior leadership role, you will be engaging directly with members of the Group Executive Committee, supporting presentations to the board and working with major airport and rail clients and brand partners, such as Starbucks, Jamie Oliver Group and Burger King

  • Developing initiatives with clients and partners in support of shared sustainability goals, positioning SSP Group as a go-to partner for sustainability

  • Deputising for the Group Head of Sustainability when required

SSP Group is looking for a seasoned sustainability professional who can network with senior stakeholders sitting on the board of SSP Group and their brands, as well as having leadership experience.

To thrive in this role, you already have:

  • An understanding of sustainability and environmental management - ideally, this would include net zero strategies, plastic packaging, and circular economy

  • 5+ years of experience with corporate sustainability, preferably in the food or consumer goods sectors

  • Demonstrable experience leading on engagement with senior stakeholders and with teams across different cultures and geographies.

SSP has a collaborative culture where face-to-face interactions are valued. The team currently meets 2-3 days per week in their offices in Camden, with occasional international travel across Europe, APAC and the Americas.

If you are looking for a role where you can make a serious impact in the food industry, working with market-leading brands, including Starbucks, Jamie Oliver Group and M&S, please apply today or email Shaqeeb Hussain at shaqeeb.hussain@acre.com.
