Acre's client is a globally active manufacturer of sustainable packaging solutions. With production facilities in more than 20 countries globally, they're having a huge impact and are making serious commitments to sustainability and wellbeing, both externally in their climate and environmental work, as well as internally, creating an equitable and enjoyable working culture for everyone.

To further drive sustainability in Europe, our client is looking to strengthen their global team with a Sustainability Communication & Implementation Manager. Reporting directly to the Chief Sustainability Officer, the Sustainability Comms & Implementation Manager will be responsible for leading the sustainability projects and initiatives in Europe, as well as the communication and reporting projects, both internally and externally. This is a new role within the company - you'll have ample freedom in this position to leverage your experience and make a big impact.

Most important responsibilities:

  • Lead on various reporting, certification and qualification projects that enhance the sustainability of the company.

  • Manage communications related to corporate ESG performance.

  • Ensure an integrated communications approach, considering all audiences and communications channels.

  • Develop sustainability content to engage relevant business stakeholders on the company and brand sustainability journey and commitments

  • Develop general communications and support consistency between internal and external sustainability messaging.

  • Analyze related sustainability key performance indicators (KPIs), propose opportunities for continuous improvement, and support Sales in working on joint projects that drive more sustainable packaging solutions.

  • Serve as lead of division in implementing and measuring the success of community involvement projects (CIPs).

  • Support implementation of business unit (BU) sustainability strategy, teaming with Manufacturing, Operations and Procurement leadership to define project scopes, goals, budgets and deliverables in alignment with long-range financial planning to achieve the company's long-term sustainability targets. This strategy includes all elements of our company's sustainability strategy, such as reducing environmental impacts and promoting talent retention and community engagement.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A strong background in sustainability, ideally, but not necessarily in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of the European sustainability regulations and frameworks, as well as the relevant reporting standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills - exposure to leveraging sustainability in internal and external communications

  • Ability to influence at senior levels across the organization - to succeed in this position, you will need excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and conceptual/analytical capabilities

  • High levels of motivation, initiative and energy
