Are you interested in leading the UK economy to Net Zero from within a FTSE100 utility company? Do you have excellent knowledge of science-based targets and are looking for the opportunity to play a critical role in influencing decision making within a business this is a fantastic opportunity to explore with us.

The Net Zero Lead will be the leading expert in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and be responsible for influencing Net Zero plans across the group. You will utilise your technical background and engagement skills to manage a team of carbon analysts whilst you focus on providing consultancy and assurance services to the business, supporting colleagues to deliver net zero targets and ensure plans are ambitious and credible.

You will also:

  • Challenge teams within the business to think differently and be ambitious about delivering carbon commitments.

  • Ensure the business is at the forefront of external carbon developments and innovations across the market. Be responsible for ensuring the collection, assurance, and reporting process for group operational GHG emissions data across scope 1,2 and 3, including the leading of the annual audit processes and regulatory compliance.

  • Support the development of low carbon capabilities by mentoring and training teams to develop in-house carbon knowledge and expertise.

As the Net Zero Lead you will have a strong background in corporate carbon reduction, and expert knowledge of greenhouse gas and net zero related regulations and obligations.

You will also have:

  • Knowledge of the science behind GHG emissions.

  • Track record of building relationships and influencing senior management teams.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience; able to work collaboratively with peers and manage junior colleagues.

  • Highly developed communication, networking skills and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and sustain relationships and influence business wide.

  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is desirable.
