As a part of this ambition, The Wellcome Trust is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Investment Property Sustainability Manager to play a pivotal role in their mission. This person will be an integral part of their investment team, contributing to the ambitious goal of achieving net zero carbon across their £1.4 billion direct property portfolio. This role involves collaborating with in-house investment and asset management teams to formulate and execute a roadmap for sustainability, ensuring their property holdings align with their mission and generate market-leading commercial returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a carbon net zero strategy for their property portfolio.

  • Create a robust framework for assessing sustainability objectives aligned with long-term economic goals.

  • Formulate asset-level decarbonisation plans and practical toolkits for energy efficiency and renewable energy generation.

  • Provide sustainability advice for development and refurbishment activities to optimise lifecycle carbon footprint and ESG metrics.

  • Oversee sustainability reporting, including carbon footprint measurement and compliance at various levels.

Candidates should be intellectually curious, adaptable and able to engage with a range of audiences. You should also enjoy working in a small but highly impactful team and strive for excellence in everything you do.

Skills and Experience:

  • Substantial experience in real estate and sustainability, with a proven track record in delivering net zero strategies.

  • Deep subject matter expertise in carbon net zero and broader ESG topics related to property.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance opportunities and risks associated with decarbonising property.

  • Strong project management skills, including successful delivery of complex initiatives on time and budget.
