John Swire & Sons Ltd. hires intellectually curious, adaptable leaders who are able to drive the strategy forward. Sustainability is a key focus and they are investing heavily in creating the right team to create impact. This role will support the sustainable development team with data collection and analysis across the subsidiaries to support the transition to science-based targets.

The Sustainability Data Manager will be responsible for centralising all sustainability reporting and disclosures across the group; using data to drive action; and ensuring readiness for increased transparency in reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Confidently leading the execution of ESG reporting across the group into all operating companies, acting as the over-all system leader and expert.

  • Working with colleagues in the Sustainable Development Office, responsible for preparation of numerical reports for the John Swire & Sons board, and supports operating companies in the preparation of numerical reports for their own boards.

  • Work closely with the Group Sustainable Business Manager when developing plans for operating company engagement and transformation - using expert data analysis to uncover opportunities for improvement and acceleration.

  • Take a lead on preparing external data disclosures in line with regulation and keep abreast of regulatory reporting requirements. Acts as the group-level subject matter expert on sustainability reporting, supporting improvement by operating companies.

  • Support colleagues in the Sustainable Development Office to prepare the group for greater transparency in reporting, demonstrating the case for increased engagement with voluntary disclosure frameworks.

This a rare opportunity to join a company that has ambitions to transform itself into an industry leading sustainable business within the privately held sector. This role will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to add significant value through their ESG reporting skills, and be an influential member of a dynamic, global team, driving significant impact at scale across a diverse portfolio with a global reach.

  • Experience in the development and management of internal reporting processes.

  • Understanding of multiple sectors (with experience in industrial sectors an advantage) and their sustainability issues and priorities.

  • Experience of influencing and managing complex stakeholders, experience of developing system implementation training.

  • Experience of leading the development of external sustainability reports in line with GRI standards, experience of SECR, ESOS, CDP questionnaires, supplier questionnaires, with experience of accounting for sustainability linked loans, or disclosure against the TCFD framework an advantage.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across international settings.

  • Enthusiasm, purpose driven individual, self -starter with significant motivation to make a positive change.
